Unlike traditional slicing and scoring letter openers, most Hasler and all Omation mail openers incorporate exclusive milling cutter technology. The milling blade is a rotating cutter positioned perpendicular to the envelope which shaves tiny chips (only 10 to 15 thousandths of an inch) as the envelope passes by.  It’s a precision process that does not require jogging or tamping, will not cut envelope contents, produces a smooth, feathered edge and eliminates partially opened envelopes – plus it’s immune to damage by foreign objects such as staples and paper clips.
